03 tl type s - 160k miles, plugs done at 150k miles ngk iridium, seafoamed a few months ago, intake, gasoline etc. change oil every 3000k miles. K/N air filter cleaned about 10k miles ago.

The car at lower rpm's under light acceleration pulsates ( rpm jump) about 200- 500 rpm ( anything under 2500rpm) especially when under 2000k rpm. I noticed today while in park, when I rev the engine - there is a rough feeling ( kind of grainy ??) Never felt the car like that before, normally very smooth when I rev the engine. 3rd gear is also giving me some issues as well, hesitation and sometimes a slight shutter just before it shifts.

Could it be a vacuum leak from a bad engine mount ? Plugged egr ports ( but wouldnt the engine run really rough, and throw a code ?), Idle control valve ? Do the valves need to be adjusted ?

I'm not all that mechanically inclined, but dont want to spend a ton of money to find the issue. If there are any home tests i can try, i would love to pin point the issue.

Oh, I have never manually cleaned the egr ports out, and always run premium fuel.

Have teh mounts ever been changed? A good place to start would be by cleaning the TB, IACV and run a good fuel cleaner thru the fuel system like Seafoam. You could also seafoam the motor thru a vac line.

 

Mounts have never been changed. Ran seafoam thru system last month per diy thread on site. Gas ,vac line,cleaned tb plate etc.

 

noobs to seafoam should repeat after a month or so to finish off the last of the crud,
then good for a year

sounds like egr passage plugged to me

160kmiles,, may as well adjust the valves once you are halfway in there doing egr
At least a few to several will be off spec,, and valves are set right,, or they are not
