Rotor question

I'm getting ready to change my rear brakes now I just wanted to know can I change them without turning/shaving the rotors? Also is there anyway I can test to see the rotors need to be turned/shaved without any special tool?

its always recomended to have them turned before putting new pads on. And no no way to tell. If you do have any wear marks or groves, that would be the only idication that they for sure needed it
