Cool Remote Start/Keyless Entry Issue..1999 TL

I have programmed my keyless entry remote but somehow I failed to program the remote with the remote starter. When I try to remote start the car, It attempts to start 3 times and then stops. If you notice in the dash, the green light of a key flashes. Now if I just stick the key in the ignition and try using the remote to start the car, it starts with the first try. Does anyone know how I can fix this??

The help would be greatly appreciated..Thanks!

Is it even possible to remote start a 2nd gen TL without a key in the ignition?

The key is part of the immobilizer system and the flashing key symbol indicates an immobilizer system problem.

Try searching the forums for "remote starter" to see if anyone else has figured this out.

Good luck!

i'm guessing you have an aftermarket alarm right.....and Bob_F yes its possible all you need is the chip from one of the keys to tie it to the remote start option on the alarm and the car thinks the key is in and starts.....

I used to be an Installer at Bestbuy a few years back. What you need is called a Bypass Modual. Bestbuy/Futureshop have units that you can program the actual code from the key onto. This prevents you from having to lose a key. The other method requires a module called a 556U ($50CAD). With this unit you have to put an OEM key into the box and mount it under the dash. With regard to the light flashing in the dash that is 100% immobilizer. I hope this helps.
