Rebuilt Engine - Then P0740
I'm looking at buying an 03 Acura TL, which had its transmission rebuilt 3 years/20k miles ago. It currently has 193k miles.
It runs really well, shifts well, but the P0740 code is on. The engine was rebuilt by a reputable local shop, and I took it back there. It has enough AT fluid, has a good color. The shop said most likely replacing the Solenoid Assembly A (28400-P6H-013) will fix it. If not that, then replacing the Linear Solenoid Assembly (28250-P7W-003).
I've okay'd the shop replacing the first solenoid (it's only like $60). If replacing this removes the code, does this mean this is one of the few cases where P0740 does not mean instant death to the transmission?
Do you all agree with the shop's assessment?
