Rear Running Lights Out

I got pulled over and given a ticket last night for the rear running lights being out on my '99 TL. All of the other lights work. Any suggestions besides new bulbs?

i am having the exact same problem and just signed up on this forum to ask it...maybe someone can chime in and help?

i already tried pulling off the fuse panel on the pass side (inside the cabin) as well as the fuse box on the pass side of the engine by (inside the engine compartment) and checked all of the fuses it might be. everything seems to be working fine.

Another weird thing is that both my rear running lights and my dash gauge lights seemed to go out at the same time. Brake lights still work though...

does a warning light on the dash come on at all? have you pulled the bulbs out and tried replacing them or looked to see if any are burned out? the tail lights are a 2 filiment bulb.

there may be a loose wire or a short if not

yes, warning lights on the dash come on but its for the SRS and when the side airbag is blocked. at night when im driving, i can't see anything in the dash. the stereo background light is on though, that seems to be the only working light in my dash. however, i believe that has its own power. The switches that have lights that come on when they are activated also turn on...its just the main dash lights that seem to be out.

I have only worked on VWs in the past, is there a thread anywhere with a step by step for removing the gauge cluster and getting to the bulbs to check their status? and maybe one for doing the same with the tails? i don't see how all of the tails would have a loose wire at the same time, but checking that would be my next move i suppose.

thanks for the response, this forum moves quicker than i'd hoped

Sounds like an electrical problem. Maybe it thinks it's a VW?

J/k man hope you get it worked out.

im pretty sure that not the light that comes on, the "side airbag" light is the one ur talking about.

to get to the rear bulbs all u have to do is open the trunk, unscrew the knobs and pull the cover.

The tail lights do not work. The brake lights work, the blinkers work, and the reverse lights work, but I got nothing if I don't have my foot on brake, the car in reverse, or my blinkers on. There are no warning lights on the dash that come on to indicate that there may be a problem.

i am having the same exact issue as jhoop2 did. 99tl everything works except cluster lights and rear tail lights. break lights work. just put the engine and trans from an 00tl. which wasnt easy. before i switched the shifter cable, ecu, entire cabin harness and harness down pass. body. ignition switch, and shifter the rear tail lights worked. i have checked all fuses all plugs are tight and im out of ideas. and help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. the car is completely legit, tight, and smooth otherwise. after it basically built from the ground up again. Two crashed ones in to one "good" one. whod of known a 99 and 00 would be so different.

I have the same thing going on, 2000 acura tl
No cluster lights or rear running lights, every time I change the small light fuse (15amp) it immediately pops when I try to turn the light on. I hope someone can find a solution soon, thanks in advance!!

If it's popping with a new fuse, sounds like you might have a short somewhere. I'd look at the wiring in the trunk for the lights, as those are easy to get to - just pull the trunk interior cover out of the way and trace those wires.
