Really weird maintenance required problem

So I've been having this come up every so often...

When I'm in the middle of driving, the car kinda just dies on me. So the maintenance required light goes on, the radio shuts off, the rpm and speedometer gauges drop to zero even though the engine is running. A few other lights come up as well, I'm not sure which ones, I think the TCS and something else (weren't up long enough to check). Anyways that would go on for like 1-2 secs and then everything would return to normal and I'd be on my way driving. This would happen a couple of times in one drive, spaced a couple of minutes apart. Then they stopped for awhile, like 3-4 months, but have started coming back. Today it happened, and my radio reset... Anyone have an idea about the problem? I think I'll try taking it to the dealer this weekend. Thanks.

Oh and also, what problems can occur if you have an SRS light on? I keep resetting that light, and I'm wondering if there may be a serious problem I'm overriding. Thanks.

Not sure about your first problem, but there is a recall on the occupant position sensor in the passenger seat. That may be tripping your SRS light. It should be fixed at not charge to you unless it is something else wrong. The best thing to do is have it checked out. AND your airbags will not deploy if there is a problem with any part of the system.

BTW, you should always check previous links before starting a new one if you have a problem. You can do a search on here for it. There are a lot of people on here that don't like it if you won't do a little research before starting your own thread. Their thinking is that the solution is already on here so why help you out when you can help yourself. Actually a pretty good philosophy.

Yeah thanks doc. Sorry I wanted to put this up before I took my car out after I added the seafoam.

I was wondering what other problems could there be with the srs? Because if its the sensor it's free to replace? But if its not, what would it be? I went to the dealer and they said ~ 95 I think, just to get it checked, and never said anything about the warranty. I guess I'll call acura and see if my vin works.

And for the maintenance required.... it only checks up the oil every 7500 miles right, but is it supposed to turn off/reset my radio and turn the gauges down? It doesn't even stay up, so would resetting it even do anything?

Simply put if you have to keep resetting the SRS there is something wrong. Bring it to the dealer, (auto parts cant read those codes) there was a recall on a part. if it turns out to be that part is faulty they will replace it for free and waive the 95 diag fee. If not they you will have to pay for it. We have no idea what could be wrong.

As for the other issue, the MAINT light has nothing to do with whats going on. Its not designed to do what your describing. It sounds like you have some type of short going on somewhere

Check the connectors that go into the gauge cluster.
I'll bet one of them is loose or has a recessed pin.
If you wiggle it and it recreates the symptom, that's where the problem is.

I have never heard of any other problem with the SRS system except for that sensor. That does not mean that noone else has had other troubles. Once again for your other problem, I have no idea except to say it sounds like a short as the others above me have stated. I would have it checked out by the dealer if you don't know how to do it.
