Radio security code

I recently purchased a '99 TL and just had a new tranny put in, I got my car today from the shop but evidently the radio doesn't want to come on. I checked the manual and it says I need to re-enter the security code. The problem is I don't have the code nor do I have my radio serial number!!! Question is, if I take it to an Acura dealership are they going to be able to reset it for me?

I believe that they can...mine is actually on a sticker stuck on the side of the glove box unit that you can see it from the side when the door is open to it. Its just a white sticker with two codes on it...one for radio..one for NAVI. As I recall...its also on a white card on the inside of the owners manual folder.

You might also be able to get the code from the Acura dealership that originally sold the car.

That's how I got the codes for the radio and navigation system on my 1999 TL a few weeks ago. The dealership phone rep just asked for the car's VIN number.

And there are a pile of threads on this topic in the forums.

Here's a good one that I found by searching for "radio" and "code".

https://acurazine.com/forums/religion-politics-18/ten-commandments-can-stay-121097/

There are a number of different ways to retrieve the codes in that thread.

Be aware that some dealerships will charge something like $90 to reset the code.

Good luck!
