Exclamation Radio Code Not Working WTF!!!

I got my car like a week ago and it went straight to the shop since there were things i wanted done to it before i drive it. anyways went yesterday to go see how everthing was coming along and tried to use the radio which said CODE. called the dealer and he told me to bring the car in so i told him i coudn't and he told me to bring the radio in and i did. i took the radio in to the dealers and they pulled the code for me. went back and installed the radio and the code wouldn't work. called them back and they double checked it and said that was the right code. UMMMMM... so i did everything from unpluging the battery for a hour and even unpluging the antenna wire but it dosent help. the radio still says that is the wrong code. WTF should i do?

That must not be the original radio. Did you try to check the owners manual for the code? Usually if its the original the code in the manual should be right. try that and let me know.

Other members have suggested to remove the antenna cable behind the radio unit before entering the codes will help.

you should try contacting acura and get the code for the car and not the radio it self since its probably not the original.

tried that too. and as far as the dealer goes that always find the easy way out by saying "well thats the code" if that dosent work than buy a new headunit.

Well if he got the # from the car and its not the original radio, how is that going to get the right radio code if it came from a different car? Getting the # from the radio should have yeilded the correct code- unless the dealer gave him the wrong code

I was in the same boat before, I had the radio code given to me by the dealership on a form they give you for the history of maintenance done on the car before you drive it off the lot. Long story short, I tried the code they gave me...didn't work, contacted the dealership and gave them the VIN and gave me different number, tried that, that didn't work. I was told to look in the glove compartment for a white sticker but I didn't have that so, went back to the place where I was having body work done, they removed the radio and contacted the Acura HQ's who gave them the correct number and it worked.
I now have that number in 2 different places and in addition to, contacted the dealership to let them update their database.

When i call the acura HQ they say that the serial number i am giving them is not valid, but infact there is no other number on there. so when i called my dealer he also said that that is not the right serial number. but in the end i took the cd player to the dealer to show them that look there is no other number and they called some where and got the code but it dosent work.

That weird i had same problem, After getting the wrong code i had to take out my radio out of the car. At the Dealer they type in three different series of code into the computer. That is found on back of our Radio the P/N #,REF # MT an Serial #. I think they need only 2 of 3 to get it right. Also you may have Tech guy that don't know what he is doing. ( It took 2 Tech guy to do it right since 1st guy didn't know what he was doing on computer)

Good Lucky Man....

YOOOOOO!

I was having the same problem until yesterday, I had the right code and right serial number everything was right but the sh*t still would not work. I took a friend to a drive thru to get some food, I tried entering the code while ordering, (while in park) and it didn't work I tried 4 times, nothing. when we drove up to the window that was underneath an overhang I put the code in and it worked. f*ckin ey.

So im thinking it has something to do with the antenna reception, so the worse reception the better. because I tried putting the code in open areas and it never worked, but as soon as got in like a garage/carport type area it worked first try.

sorry for the novel, but having my radio back is worth the ramble.

only if the antenna wire is disconnected from the back first will my radio accept the code as valid or else it keeps showing errors if i punch it in while the antenna is plugged in.

Radio Code Runaround

Just spent half the day entering the wrong code that the dealer gave me. Finally called Acura Customer Service, gave her the VIN# and the serial # that I took off the side of the radio (mine was under the right hand side wood molding on the face of the radio where it is screwed down) and she gave me the right code. Put it in and Presto! I had a radio again. If you can find the serial # for your radio do it this way. I have found that the Service Techs just either don't know how to enter the serial # or give you the wrong number so you will get frustrated and pay them whatever it takes to get your radio back working again.

Mine is a 9 letter/number string... no 5 digit number at all.

Gotta call Acura today and see what they say, we'll hope I don't have some of the issues y'all have had.

FYI I just had the same problem...I KNOW my code and it wasn't taking it...tried verything (batter disconnect, etc) I pulled out the antenna, put in the code and I was in business...it's complete BS that I had to go through that, but better than having to go to the stealer...thanks again to the board! if anyone understands why this happens, I'd be curious to know...WTF is this 'interference' crap?!?!?!

What you have to do is, Take the Battery Plugs out... Put it back again after waiting 10 seconds. Try putting the code again. If it didnt work. Go to ur dealer IF they were the ones to give u the code for the car. Tell them its not working, What they will do is Take the radio out, UNPLUG it, then plug it back again and put ur code back in. And wont charge you Anything. BUT if they are faggots, they will charge u 30 to 60Dollars.
