Question about HID headlights

I have a 2002 TL Type S. When I turn the HID headlights on, they both dont come on. One time its the left, one time its the right, sometime its neither. Then eventually they both come on. Is this a problem with the switch.
Thanks

Sounds like the switch.
Maybe a bad relay. Try swapping relays temporarily see if that fixes it.

You can check out the service manual in the DIY thread. It can probably help you.

when they do come on what is the color--pinkish?
that would be the death warning for the bulbs
Most gen2s are already replacing them

RELAY. After tearing apart my front end (my cars front end) I never saw no "stinkin relay". I imagine the fuses are ok but I would check them anyway. Condensation in my lens led to the Inverter being the culprit, full of water. The DIY section helped me alot. Their were 2 instructions in there that didn't work on my car. I didn't "really" have to take the air cleaner housing out and the bulb covers turn toward the fender, so one turns CW and the other CCW. I discovered this after knocking off some of the fins on the bulb covers with a hammer. Patience is not one of my virtues. Just saying....

The relay is in the under hood fuse/relay panel.

Moisture is the single biggest killer of ballasts & igniters in these systems. If you see condensation in your headlight, and they still work, either get to the problem quickly, or they will kill they lights.
