Everytime I begin driving my car the shifts are hard. It also downshifts pretty hard when I gun it. When the car warms up it shifts smoother. Is it almost time for a new tranny? I got a 99tl. Is this normal? Did a tranny flush at 90000, now I have 98000. After I did the flush, I read that it was not good to do a flush. How do everyones car shift? Hate this tranny shit.

 

mine does the same, normally from going into gear like reverse or D4 from a stop. It may have something to do with temperature inside the tranny at the time. not sure.

 

Your right, it only happens in reverse and in d4.

 

My TL's transmission was just replaced and its shifts are transparent. It never actually failed, it only began shifting roughly. The dealer said it was suffering from "internal failure". If you're experiencing rough shifting, take it in - the tranny is probably dying.
