Puzzling Windshield Wiper Operation Problem
Puzzling Windshield Wiper Operation Problem
Hey to the list,
I have an intermittent problem with the operation of my windshield wipers:
Some times, the wipers will not work. On any setting.
At first, I obviously thought I needed to replace the fuse. I pulled the fuse and it's still good. I reinsert the fuse, still no go. I pull the fuse again, start the car, shut it off, reinsert the fuse, restart the car, and the damn things worked. (My reasoning was to kinda' 'reboot' the wiper circuitry without disconnecting the battery cable and clearing the stereo memory.)
I figured that was the end of it. Wrong.
Every once in a while (like yesterday morning at 4:45 am as I started the car to go to work), the wipers would not come on. I pull the fuse, start the car (without the fuse in the block), shut off the car, reinsert the fuse, and once again, everything is fine.
Frankly, I'm baffled as to what the cause may be on this.
I did experience the wiper travel problem and readjusted/tightened the nuts on the blade arms (but did not replace the linkage). This was close to a year ago.
So now I pose these questions to the members of this board:
What could be causing this? A relay getting ready to check-out? BTW, where is the relay? A faulty ground, perhaps? (FYI- no other known/observed electrical problems to date).
Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm friggin' baffled.
Also, a HUGE thank you to all the members on this board. I have learned so much about about my TL from here; your participation and knowledge is most definitely appreciated.
As always, many thanks & much respect,
czar

I guess the easiest and cheapest is to change the fuse with a good one. Don''t assume just from a visual inspection that it's good.
Next would be the wiper assembly. It's about $38.

Hope it helps.
