Power Steering Pump - Base vs Type S

Okay so i have to replace the power steering rack and pinion on my base 2000 TL. We are also going to replace the pump. Can i put a type s Power streering pump in there and everything will be good or do any sensors or anything have to be changed aswell.

Just making sure because i read somewhere that the TL base model is speed sensing and the TL-S is torque sensing. Not looking forward to doing this job, any help is appreciated

Thanks

There are Different Sensors between Type-S and TL-P (Rack and Pressure Lines).

TL-P is Speed Sensitive where TL-S is Torque Based, Both Systems are Different...

The thread below will give you an idea of what to expect for this repair, although it was done on a CLS.

Thanks for that, do you know if its just a straight swap out for the two sensors? or is there more to it than just that.

There arent sensors. The base trans has the variable assist unit that is in the trans and has 2 hoses that go to it. You will have to get rid of a couple lines. The pumps are the same, they dont have sensors either
