Talking Power Steering Problem

My 2000 tl has 126,000 and has been great, (except the minor irritants I keep reading about on this great forum... shaky at high speeds, window noise)

The other day at the Nissan Dealership (my husbands truck...) I had to make a tight turn in reverse and felt more than heard my power steering get stuck. Now it works fine as long as I am not making hard turns... The nissan dealer said they could replace the box? for about 400-600 total. What do you all think?

well for starters welcome to the forum

Now on to the problems. The TL shouldn't be "shaky" at high speeds. It should be smooth and responsive. Couple things could cause that. Bad rack/alignment or most likely worn/bad/cheap tires. Window noise shouldn't really be a issue either (all depending on how much you have) its possible that you have a bad seal. Now for the steering problem. It may be a bad Power Steering rack. (it may also be the reason your car feels shaky at speed) I would get a different opinion from either a Honda or Acura dealer.

Well, yeah, but I wonder if anyone else had this problem. My dealership is awful and I always get a diagnosis of many things from them, and after many many hours and dollars spent, am lucky if the problem is even resolved.
