Exclamation Power Steering Issue

So i noticed my ps fluid goes down very quickly and i dont see any leaks. When I fill up the resevoir the fluid spins like its being stirred, i dont think its supposed to do that, so i replaced the pump today and its still doing the same thing...has anyone had this issue? Could it be the rack? Im waiting to see if its low tomorrow. Also when the new pump squeaks!!! I think its bad but the guy i bought it from says it probably has air in the lines...idk any input? i think i got gagged...but u get what u pay for...I payed 40 for a used rather then buying it at a parts store for 299.99....but if its still the same issue with the fluid then that means my old pump is good.

^^^ check for leaks....make sure the return hose is nice and tight....

seems like the fluid is being pumped well but the leak is killing it....do you hear any weird noises ?

you could have a leak from the rack. it could be leaking fluid into the boots. also air in the system can cause the fluid to bubble out of the top of the reservoir.

what do you mean the pump squeaks? Maybe a loose p/s belt? did you use the honda power steering fluid?

there's really no place for power steering fluid to go that can't be notices on the ground especially if its as much fluid as you're describing. A little fluid could seep into the boots as mentioned but a large amount would definitely leak under the engine. The only other place that it can leak into is the power steering speed sensor on the transmission if you have a base model tl, but that would be very rare in my experience.

Well the squeak, was from the pump, but after letting it run awhile it stopped. Everything is nice and tight, theres defly no leak up top. Im thinking its the rack...im gonna check the bottom tomorrow and see if theres any other leaks i havent noticed...

make sure the ps belt isnt too tight--it has to be looser than a normal belt or the pump gets wrecked fast

use honda ps fluid

you used new oring seals for pump to lines? ck connections etc as said above
bled/burped the system -- per the book?
put cardboard under wheels and with engine running, turn wheel slowly from full lock to opposite steering lock several times-
add fluid as needed--that method will push out air
fluid should be near the full mark but not over!

BUT FIRST= on this car
get under and peel back the boot on end of rack--each side
if fluid is present, you have bad rack seals = needs rack

Any known cause of pump failure--fluid never changed?

did you flush the ps fluid before the new pump install--or after?
meaning a few drain and refill cycles of the entire system by removing the return line and pumping system dry? refill- burp and pressure drain again?
(the cardboard reduces surface friction so it wont hurt the system--this is the acura specified method)

are you adding fluid with engine running? dont!
it does swirl due to pumping action

Ok so after waiting all this time i decided to get down and dirty and find my leak and i did, its leaking from one of the metal lines that run under the block. If your looking from the front theres two thin metal lines that have a rubber hose and clamp on it, its right under the passenger side fan. The line has a whole, i tried to follow it but didnt take off all the plastics underneath. What are these lines called? And has anyone delt with this issue?
