Hey I have a 02 tls and I get horrible gas mileage.....I filled my car up at work with super and then I parked it on the side and started it for abt 3 min and drove it home....next day I started it for 3 min and then drve it to wrk...and then I started it for abt 2 min and then put gas again to see...it took a gallaon and a hlf again and the odometer said only 13 miles....can anyone help me..btw my tranny is slipping bad so I drive in ss mode and always have to rev higher and keep the rpm at 2 always or else it keeps slipping....and I changed my spark plugs like 4 months ago....thanks for the help

 

Did you try changeing the tranny fluid might help save it. Good time into looking into a six speed swap or rebuild it. Theres a diy on everyrhing you need to know to give you a clue

 

Or if you wanted to stick with an A/T, you could search into swapping it with an 06 odyssey trans or an 07 accord trans. IMO it would be a better idea than getting your current transmission rebuilt.

 

you cant tell in that short of driving times- and with most of it running on the full rich warm up setting for the fuel injection, thats burning extra gas

with trans slipping its higher rpm shifting in SS, the engine and trans battle for some friction,, thats going to cause more fuel use

You can fuel the car one day, and the next put more in like you did, but without same temps in air, same pump, car parked at same position/angle ,,it means nothing
Even when `full` you can get another 1-1.5 gallons in!

If you dont get 300+ miles per tank- when filled to first auto shutoff of nozzle, driven down to the low fuel light,. something is really wrong
look at egr port cleaning, good plugs, seafoamed/bg44, using 91 octane etc
pcv valves are showing up clogged recently- another thing to inspect/replace for good measure and under 10 bucks
hows the tire pressure?

 

I get 240...and like 260 on a good day....

 

all city-short trips -with a bad trans,,thats about right

 

You cant accurately judge mileage from 3 short trips then going to the gas station and only putting in 1.5 gallons. you may have had .5 or more less gallons in the tank last time.

 

yea true...but im planning on getting the tranny replaced so hopefully ill get a little more better mileage......what do u recommend that i do to the cars engine....as in cleaning and stuff.....thanks for the help
