Hello guy's my 1999 TL's transmission went out and i didnt have enough money to get it rebuit...i took it to the shop and the mechanic got a used one..he said if it is bad he can get a replacement but ill just have to pay the labor for taking it off and back on...i have 3 days without the car so finally today after work i went to the shop and they were just finishing with the car....about ten minutes later i went with the mechanic for a test drive and the D4 light was flashing..it rolled in reverse fine...when he put it in drive the car picks up really slow, car rev's up to about 3 or 4 thousand RPM before it goes....after that it drives normal..what can it be....another bad trans?...its still in mechanic shop he is still checking it out..any info will be greatly appreciated...thanks

That trans is junk. A mechanic should know that.

 

A Used trans with at least ATF in it Should not Wear by not Use...
The trans should work ok, If not the trans is Done for too...

 

many trans are drained of fluid for storage..allowing rubber seals to dry out and cause failure

you should not have to pay labor again--this one didnt make it out of the shop and it died,,thats on the shop to get something back from the seller
and find you a decent one,,, or a full refund
99s are harder to find--the 4 speed

 

I wonder if they even used the correct honda dw1 atf?
use of dextron3 is death to our trans!!!
