P0122 TPS issue

P0122 TPS issue
The last time I had this issue the car was under warranty so they replaced the TB and I was good to go.
At 135K that ain't gonna happen so am curious if it's the sensor or the TB itself. I have the Service Manuals for the car and step 9 on page 11-104 (for those who have the SM) failed. I was supposed to read between 0.5 and 0.9 Kohms and was reading about 751 ohms.
The manual indicated that failure of step 9 required replacing the TB. Why not since the dealer will make mad cash off it?
It looks like the TPS is fixed but could be replaced with a little coaxing from a dremel and some self tapping screws.
My question is whether it's really the TPS or the TB that is the culprit.
Any help regarding my questions is greatly appreciated. It looks like a new TB is gonna run me in the $350 range so any suggestions for a better place for a replacement TB will also be greatly appreciated. If you think the TPS can be replaced to alleviate the issue for even less, that's even better.
The way it was shifting when the problem first arose, I thought I was gonna need tranny number 3... Thank God for the SS or it would be a bitch to drive.

Sounds like the sensor. You cant buy the sensor from the dealer. Its comes preinstalled on the TB. You can get aftermarket units and seeing you know your way around a ohm/volt meter you could probably take the time to mount one and adjust it so that its within the range.

I don't know what happened during the process of testing but do know that it no longer drives rough or shifts like it's a commercial truck.
Maybe shit happens and it'll be good for a bit? I did find a replacement TPS for substantially less than a throttle body so if the problem persists, I'll see if that gets it done.
Much thanks for all replies. It's great to know that there is a dedicated group of individuals who are ready to help when help is needed!
Have a great weekend to all!

Yes.... three years later, I'd like to add my 2 cents. There are now other manufacturers out there making TPS sensors for our cars (other than Omni). I decided to save $10 with an API branded TPS through ebay and I have no problems. I was only successful at calibrating it by using volts @.45v and not ohms. Their instructions do say to use volts (as does the Omni one) but this thread and a couple others mention to calibrate using Ohms and not volts. I used this video for additional information.
