Question Oil Pan Replacement Price

Recently did an oil change an I stripped the oil pan plug. I used an oversized bolt. I thought I fixed the problem but noticed oil leaking. Took it to the stealership and they said it is also leaking from the seals. They qouted me $335 out the door for a replacement pan. Does this sound reasonable? I thought it would take about an hour and should be more in the $200 range. They mentioned the seal have to cure before they put oil into the car does this sound correct.

the oil pan is 80 bucks. They use Honda Bond. Its a liquid gasket (best stuff you can buy) and does need to cure before starting.

You might want to call around and see if any shops in your area could put a thread insert into your pan. I personally like the time sert brand as it's a solid insert with a little flange that recesses into whatever you're repairing.

I was trying to loosen up the oil pan bolt, I most have gone the wrong way. I finally got it of as it was on tight the bolt had steel shaving that looked like the thread of the oil pan. I found a local guy that will do the replacement job for $80.

After the bond is put on and the pan bolted on do you have to wait for it to cure before you proceed with feeling the car back up with oil?
