odometer fades out

OK. This is one of those "piss you off" things. I have the odometer light that is strong when the car is cold. After driving for awhile the odometer dims to a faint grey color and the triptonic gear light fails to illuminate. I am supecting a computer module problem. Has anyone had this problem? What kind of skill does it take to fix it. I asked the dealer about it and they said it would be a $200 bill. Looking for some thoughts. Thanks

Not really. They in a roundabout way said it was a computer board problem. There is apparently a "Shop Talk" on the problem. Have you heard of this?

Is your battery OK ? Check your alternator too .....The point is ...are they supply enough
power to the lights ?
