O2 sensor fouler on stock cat will it work?

Have code p420. Going to try a new o2 first, but if its the cat, iam wondering if i use one of these o2 fouler setups will it clear the code? Just want to clear the code to pass emissions then install a high flow or test pipe.

the anti fouler is for high flow situations -when you need to remove the device from main flow/speed of exhaust..clogged cat would be opposite,,or is the cat blown out?

Smog test usually have a machine plugged into the code port on the car while its being tested,,
clearing the codes will also result in a new code that says- not enough info avail for testing--
you have to drive the car so it relearns how its operating- all systems functioning--before it will allow testing

Muffler shops can test cat for function- flow pressure and temp
see our sponsor excelerate for deals on every type cat from stock to wild

How can it clear it but still be there? Iam in NY here they just plug the machine to the car with ignition on and run the scan they dont start the car and put sniffer to check exhuast. This is why I was wondering if it would work so I can pass the test.

Anyone recommend
where I can find a test pipe for a decent price for this car?

You should get a non-fouler as well. you'll need it for sure with a test pipe, and probably with an aftermarket cat. [especially high flow cats] I think xlr8 has one that works with no modification, otherwise, you've got to drill the non-fouler out to 1/2" almost to the end. If you decide to do it yourself, the help/motormite # is 42009

like I said before- is the cat damaged? whats the story here?

You could clear the codes, but have to start car to move it to the place right?
In that time, it will produce a code if something is really wrong

Plugging reader in with key on gives the reader all the info it needs
dont have to have car running

In CA they leave it plugged in the whole time

if they sniff the tail and you delete the cat- its not going to pass
the cat converts some nasty gasses into some other nasty gasses

get the basic cat from Josh,,what are they 100? and pass the test!
then you have x years between inspections to have your `play exhaust` on there

If you're just trying to pass emissions, the non-fouler will work perfectly with your stock convertor. You'll have to clear the codes and then drive it until all the monitors reset. That might take a couple days unless you look up the drive cycle procedure, which is posted on here somewhere. Hang onto the non-fouler, as you'll probably need it with a high flow cat. and for sure with a test pipe. You won't have to change o2 sensors to pass emissions, but you might improve fuel economy if you decide to replace them.

Took me 15 miles after I threw a TPS code. Reset the ECU, drove 15 miles and brought it back and passed. If the primary O2 sensor is bad, the car should run terribly...The secondary shouldn't matter. Save test pipes for track cars unless you want to ruin the awesome torque curve on the TL.

nothing wrong with being ready for track days

if you dont know about them, search internet for racetracks near you
You driving your car with a pro racer as your personal coach- sometimes in the passenger seat -sometimes in another car leading you thru the line, or following to see if you learned it right
not full race speeds--to start- but can get the TL going flat out in 3rd at least! 90-120mph average max speeds on straight
different run groups for experience levels so dont sweat that
average $150-250 a day when run by private car clubs- example mini cooper owners often rent the track for a day and hold school= other car makes are welcome, every car there means less per person cost
No speed limits- no tickets! and even a few cops are instructors--nothing like passing one at 90 as they wave you by
end result is you become a way better driver than you thought possible

CAUTION!! Track days are habit forming,,
and will make crack addiction seem like sound financial planning
