Exclamation New Pioneer headunit installed, now dash lights will not turn on!

I recently installed a new Pioneer AVIC 940x headunit. Upon initial installation the dash light did not work. so i removed the panels again, verifyed the illumination wire hookups in different configurations with no success.(I have 1 orange wire w/ white stripe from the vehicle harness, and 2 orange wires from the headunit harness, 1 with white stripe(illumination) and one that is just orange(dimmer))

To further trouble shoot this issue, I completly disconnected the harness from the vehicle and still no illumination on the dash lights.

Yes i have checked the fuse(#9). Yes i have tried a new fuse in its place.

Any and all help would be appreciated. This is driving me nuts.

I was just thinking the same thing. its possible that they are tied into other fuses. Do you know if the dash lights are tied into the lighting relays under the hood?

Also only connect the orange/white. I think when I did my pioneer head unit I didn't hook up the dimmer wire because there was no where to connect it.

03tlsNBP is right. Small light fuse in passenger side underhood fuse panel is the one that goes to the dash light brightness controller. Wiring out of the controller to all the dash illumination lights and radio illumination should be red. Check it with a test light; should go dim to bright as you turn the controller with the headlights on. Aftermarket radios typically use orange for illumination. I can't recall seeing orange/white or seeing the term "dimmer". The alpine unit I've got sitting on the shelf doesn't have orange/white, but does have an orange wire labeled "illm".

The power for dash lights comes from the radio. You gotta hook up the orange wire to get dash lights!

Ok so thru further troubleshooting i have not fixed the problem.

-Checked every single fuse in the car, no blown fuses.
-Tried different connection combinations on the orange wires, no lights still
-disconnected the harness completely then tried the dash lights, nothing.

So your saying the POWER comes from the headunit to illuminate the dash lights? My orange wires are hooked up! Time to break out the multimeter.
What do you recommend to possibly troubleshoot this?

Stumbled upon this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-problems-fixes-117/no-dash-parking-lights-594823/

OP stated he grounded the illumination wire to the ground wire and the problem was fixed. Will be trying this ASAP monday.

Let me know if this works. I had this same issue w my odyssey both times installing aftermarket head units. I just had to change the fuse and switch the orange wire both times. If I woulda known my radio was gonna get stolen I guess I would have written down the fix for it lol.

It worked! Basically followed what the OP did in his thread; grounded the second orange wire (illumination) and bam lights functioning. i have lost actual dimmer capability.. but for now this is fine with me as I have been without dash backlights for 2-3 months.

check the dimmer make sure its plugged in and if it is, grab a multimeter use the red probe on the red/black wire and the black probe on the red wire move dimmer switch back and forth there should be voltage between them and it should increase and decrease as you move the switch
