Need quick accurate advise on 2003 transmission
I have a 2003 TL-S with a transmission that was replaced at 45,000 miles under warranty. I was under the impression that the replacement tranny was warrantied for 100,000 miles.
My car is now at the dealer needing another replacement transmission to the tune of about $3400. They say there was only a one year warranty on the replacement transmission. The car now has 99,000 miles.
Are they right and what are my alternatives. If i had known the car only had a one year warranty on the new Trans i would have sold it long ago.
Any quick advice would be greatly appreciated since the dealer is calling and asking what I want to do.
Many Thanks,
Jerry

what year was first transmission replaced? If you don't qualify for 7 year /109K warranty due to VIN cut off, and they replaced first transmission at no cost to you then its 12month/12K miles warranty. Only if you pay all of it or portion of it then they give you 3 yrar/36K.

Well guys they talked to the factory and it'll either be $1500 or $2500 depending if it has a "new" ECU when the original was replaced at 45,000 miles which was about 4 years ago.
They also informed me I needed a new brake master cylinder since mine makes a strange clanking noise if you hit the brakes hard. Not to mention ball joints, a new battery and tires plus the $1500 105K service is coming up. All and all the repairs and maintenance were going to be way more than the car is worth in good condition.
I decided to cut my loses and trade it in on a nice 2006 certified TL with 34,000 miles that they had on the lot. At first they wanted to sell me the 2006 for $19995 and they would give me a $1000 for my car. After much haggling they found a buyer for my old car (I suspect one of their mechanics wanted it since the body and interior are fine) and they offered me $3000 for my old car plus they would put a set of new tires on the 2006TL.
I must be an idiot to get another Acura but I was stuck and no one was going to give me anything for my immobilized 2003. This time I'll purchase an extended warranty when the factory one expires.
Grrr and my sympathies to everyone else who is going through similar aggravation. I really though this would be a 200,000 mile car when I bought it but oh well.
The other interesting thing is they gave me an 09 as a loaner. Ugliest car I've ever seen, in my opinion. I also wasn't particularly impressed by the car. My 03-S was every bit the car the 09 is minus some bells and whistles.
