Need to know why I have no third gear and wen I first start it up p and n are both lit up also the brake light comes on what does that mean anyone? PLEASE!

 

a good chance your transmission is FUCKED

 

Kinda figured that but sometimes third works

might just be an electrical issue too, but third gear is NOTORIOUS for going out on the 5-speed automatics (especially the first year, and your transmission has probably even been replaced before too under warranty )



but basically what the lights mean is that there is a code in the ecu for the transmission, and basically those need to be checked with a scan tool

 

as far as 6-speed, a transmission first of all, along with a clutch, and a manual starter
then also a bunch of other parts too; which are more then likely going to run well into the $4,000+ range (still cheaper to get a rebuilt auto though


btw search the forum for parts needed on the 6-speed swap

 

thats some odd lights to get--has the CEL or D5 light flashed on the dash?
can it make it to a parts store for a code reading?
ck the trans fluid -color and smell? burnt sugar smell = bad

current mileage on car?
ck trans bolts- are the heads painted blue- thats a warranty unit

there is a chance you may not have gotten the oil jet recall done
call acura 1 800 382 2238 x5, have cars VIN in hand- register as owner
and ask if all recalls are complete-
Your dealer can run the VIN for same info

can you get any gears to move the car-- or its dead in the water?
each gear shaft carries 2 gears, clutch wearout can effect many things

 

might be something simple like an external selenoid--have it looked at by a trans shop-
not aammm..we know their diagnosis

Is this a sudden problem- no signs of trans slipping or acting up at all?

Your trans is toast. It needs to be replaced.

 

flushed the trans- drain and refill or power machine flushed? honda atf?

if our mega trans gurus say its a real problem....

 

Im surprised the trans has held up this long in this condition of 3rd not working.

 

I suspect ~liberal use~ of SS was required to bypass the bad gearset/clutch.. and go right to 4th??
Hey - whatever it takes,,but

its the the kind of thing you might want to look into before a year goes by,,
when surprise surpriiiise,,the trans quits without warning!!
