it gotten worse recently. and yes i have tint, and no, there isnt any metal in the film. ive had the tint for a year or so, and this problem started a few months ago. i can post a video, but it just shows me driving in some random direction or area, nowhere near where i actually am.

sometimes it freezes and after a few minutes will jump forward to where i actually am. and sometimes when the freeway curves, it keeps going straight and eventually the screen will show me parallel to where i am, but the arrow will show me off in some lake or mountainside.

 

I have no suggestions for you, but I would say that I'm not terribly impressed with the TL Navi. My $200 Magellan 3100 works much better - well, maybe not "much", but compared on the pricing difference...

 

I would suggest that you go into the BIOS menu of your navigation system. You can do this by holding in Menu/ Map / Cancel in that sequence. You would then go to Force Download and it resets itself. Im not sure if it asks for a four digit pin number but make sure you have it handy. This worked for me.

well, i tried it. and it seemed to help right after the reset, but it quickly goes to shit... instead of seeing the freeway im on, it shows me off diagonally somewhere in the mountains.


its getting really bad. what can cause this? disk not reading? navi antenna going bad or loose connection... ? anyone

I've a 2000 TL with Nav and your description decribes my problem exactly. Seems like the processor is bogged down for some reason. Like it needs to be reset. I've not had any luck fixing either. I'm almost ready to velcro a $100 Tom Tom or Magellen over the screen.
Any real help would be appreciated!

im lost somewhere in the middle of ohio cause my navigation doesnt work. ive been here for over 2 months now... i just wanna go home.

buy a map and find where u are, and go from there.

 

..check to make sure your navi-dvd isn't dirty and that your connections are all good from the player in back. I know my navi has froze on me a couple times where I had to pull over and restart the car in order to get the navi to work again.

 

just did the nav conversion and mine is acting up too, it's really weird..starts driving in the middle of nowhere and completely off..but mine is only off by like one city or sometimes not even by that much..it's weird, it started happening after recalculating a route. i also got the 1.09J dvd which is the first edition of the navi cd..would that cause this? this sucks i really don't want to take everything out again

 

Yea my navi did the exact same thing. Once i was in the ocean according to it, LOL!. But for some strange reason it got better, I have no clue why. Most of the time it works perfectly. Once in a while I will still be off though.

 

so viper/speedmon, either of you figure out what the issue is?


im gonna try yanking everything out and reconnecting. the disc looks fine. im definitely not buying a new one just to find out if thats the problem.

 

stRodda, I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with you. Now that I think about it, there have been a couple incidents where my navi. told me to make a turn onto a street, and when I do.. it goes completely off track then it automatically tries to re-correct itself with the auto re-route.. I'm thinking theres something around the area thats blocking the GPS signal and causes it to go all wacky. If it happens to you often then yah, theres definitely a problem.. but every now and then, it should be ok.

 

i just kept making it force download from the diagnose menu and it finally worked when i was eating wendys in the parking lot..lol..ever since it's been fine.. the only problem i'm having now is that the entire unit doesn't turn on when it's super cold outside..it'll turn on once the car is warm on the inside.. the arrow for the navi also moves from left to right too, like it never stays on track with the road line, i don't remember it doing this before when i had factory navi in my old TL..

 

i dont think its the area im in. ive had the car for 3years and it worked great. within the last 6-8mo. its been getting noticeably worse. it happens constantly... and sometimes if im trying to get a route calculated while driving, itll just freeze cause it cant keep on track of where i am.
