My headlights have condensation

Both of my headlights have condensation in them after being washed tonight. I've never cleared them, they're from the factory, never even had to change a bulb. This is extremely irritating.

You might want to get that looked into ... your HIDs might go (not a cheap repair). See what the dealership can do -- maybe a goodwill fix? If not, it'll be cheaper to replace them than to replace the HID bulb + ballasts.

Definitely look at them or have them looked at. It could be you have water getting in through the ballast and headlight seal. Because the ballast is the lowest part of the light it will collect there.

I have until the 15th of this month until warranty expires. I guess I'll get it in ASAP... but the condensation is gone now. Should I wash it again before taking it in to try to get it to come back, or just make them document it so if it does cause problems they have to fix it after warranty?

I bet if your headlight housing got warm from the sun it would probably condensate again. There is a little air valve that will let some condensation out but if there is enough to collect on the inside you definitely have a problem somewhere. Take it to the dealer and have them look at it.

The cost of a new ballast is $180
Bulb ~ $200 you want to replace both of them

So I would take it is asap.

I agree with the others. Get it in while you have warranty left and get it taken care of

It goes in Saturday. My warranty expires on the 15th of this month, and my mileage is 49600 - good timing, I suppose. I'm gonna complain that the seat heaters are weak (because my AV6 will set you on fire and the TLs seem barely to get warm), but whether or not they'll fix that remains to be seen.

Edit: I called Acura Client Services just now and documented this issue with them. The condensation went away, but I know it will return. The seats barely warm up, as well - and I went ahead and had that documented. It's the last bit of warranty work I can have done, so I might as well get it all fixed.

The condensation probably went away because the headlight assembly cooled off. I bet if you park your car where the sun can warm the headlights it will condensate back up again. You really should, dyi or have the dealership, check to make sure there is no water in the ballast.

Headlight Units

Get the things replaced pronto. I have a 2003 TL and I had condensation in one of the units. and it went out. I brought it to the dealer and they replaced both under warrantee. He did me a favor as he thought the one that was working might "have a little condensation" in there too. Cost if not under warantee, for both complete units, around $3000.00. Labor at $90.00 / hr. taking off the bumper cover, etc........what a headache it COULD have been. Good luck.

My condensation was in the very bottom portion, hardly noticeable, of the circular high-beams. It disappeared minutes after I noticed it, and despite temperature extremes in GA (84F yesterday, 45F now), being washed twice since then, two rain storms, it has not came back.

And my car has 50,100 miles now.
