moisture buildup in 2001 TL headlight Unit

There was significant amount of moisture buildup in my 2001 TL rightside Headlight. I thought it was due to car wash that penetrated through some aged rubber sealing. I took HL out, used hair dryer to get rid of moisture from 3 chambers and put it back. but today I find there is moisture build up again. no car wash, no rain. just normal driving.

what could be the problem ? hate to replace the whole headlight unit (expensive).

thanks for any advice.

this is a standard problem for us
you can reseal externally, or take it apart and seal, or get new housings

and/or you will need a new hid kit,,ballast under light will fry from water dripping out hole and directly onto it
www.hidextra.com $59 kit has all we need and is waterproof

easy diy,,you already know how to remove the housings
all you do is cut the old ballast leads and splice in the new ones
remote mount new ballast to frame rail

ok. without removing headlight unit, I took high beam bulb and low beam bulb (HID) out. with these 2 holes, I blow hair dryer into each to clear out all the moisture. I then put bulbs back - luckily this is passenger side headlight so it's able to do this - drove around for a few miles and a little moisture appears inside high beam chamber.

it could be the rubber cover, or the little red washer on the socket, or somewhere under that doesn't seal properly. will try to replace them to see whether it fixes the issue.

indeed it could potentially damage the expensive HID parts. so I will try not to drive this 2001 TL until the moisture is gone.

the MAIN SEAL between lens and housing fails and you have to open the
unit up -remove old seal, make new seal, heat to seal

or try silicone around seal on outside and wash the car at home... instead of pressure wash against headlights

59$ kit from www.hidextra.com will take care of ballast and bulb probs

no more condensation

I duct-taped the back of Headlight High Beam and no more condensation since - I was going to take out the whole housing to bake/seal etc but had second thought to try this as moisture started from High beam chamber.

so the problem was due to the moisture through the back of high beam unit (rubber seal too old ? I didn't see any visible physical damage to it).

when I have time, will try to replace the rubber seal, and also the little red rubber washer.
