Moisture build-up in headlights
Moisture build-up in headlights
I'm new to acurazine so forgive me if this topic has been covered.
I've had my '03 TL for just over a year now and I've had my left front headlight assembly replaced twice due to moisture build-up inside. The second time it actually sorted out the inverter unit and the headlight did not work. Right side headlight has had no problems. Anybody else have this problem?

Yes, I have the same problem. I am about to replace my headlight assembly as well. I cannot figure out what the problem is.
From looking into it online, several people have had the same problem. I know Acura recalled the TSX for the same problem. I was hoping they may do the same for the TL. I do not want to have to continue replacing the assembly or headlight as the lights are not cheap!

Exactly, take out the headlight, leave it in the sun to remove all moisture, then get sealant from homedepot, and seal all the connection gaps, also make a roof cover with sealant for the air valve . If you trace it when the headlight is mounted, the water is actually running down where the air valve is.
if you are getting the same problem after replacing the headlight.......then i'm gonna guess that you have a problem with one or more of the bulb connectors.....if that seal is broken on one of the 4 bulb holders of the headlight it would explain why you keep getting moisture.....especially check the plastic cover for the hid.....
I have to do this to my POS (condensation).
1. How does one remove the headlight without killing themselves?
2. Do you just unplugged something from the light unit?
2a. Where is this thing to unplugg
3. Do I have to disconnect the battery?
3a. How do I disconnect the battery without dieing.
You have no idea how fcken angry I am about doing this. Help is greatly appreciated.

Yes disconnect the battery. Simply unhook the negative and positive cables. Nothing special needs to be done.

Like everyone said, find the leak. Seal it up with silicone. Also, to save your ballast, seal up the hole where it connects to the ignitor. I experienced this before and replaced one ballast because any water leak will channel down to the ballast and fry it. Seal it up good.
Ballast, Fuse, Bulb... what is my problem?
First time in Acurazine, and I dunno about cars that much. This is my first Acura, and I am trying to understand the whole HID thing. Anyways, bought a 2003 tl-s 3 weeks ago and put it through touchless car wash. Had condensation in the right assembly, but HID was ok. Changed battery the next week @ independent shop, and HID flickered out. Took the car to a shop, fuse kept blowing so they did diagnostic test and said ballast is broken. From what I read of the posts, water may have shorted the ballast. My question is if the ballast is dead, why is it keep blowing the fuse?
the headlights are prob way too sealed... make sure the end corner clip is on and that you dont see any physical crack.
Otherwise all caps need to be connected properly and you may want to add a bit of rubber gasket maker on the ballast to headlight contact.
As a last resort, i have done this in the past. You can drill out the vents which were not used by stanley and add in new breathers, it takes about 2 minutes to do and generally you need to have the headlight off teh car and apart to clean up any debris. This is not similar to drilling holes in ur lights, the holes are already there but just not drilled out. ITs like having a contour of a switch say covered up but u can cut it to add the switch.
GOod luck
