I am trying to understand how the misfire causes the brake light indicator to go off. I am not arguing with your results at all, I just want to understand the mechanism behind your success. Anyone?

Doesn't make sense to me, but IF I had to guess, perhaps the misfire is shaking the sensor/switch? I know when I had the automatic in place with the E-brake foot pedal, after disengaging it, the brake light would sometimes stay on. It'd be random when it would come on and go off.

I suppose it could be a vibration causing the sensor to go off. I would have thought that it would require a lot of shaking that would be very visible that car was misfiring. I guess not. Thanks for the thought.
