Maintenance Required!!!

So when I turn on the car, engine/on I see that the "Maintenance Required" mil light flashes constantly for like 10-15 seconds. Seemed strange cause it was regular I would catch it. But I went to my friend's shop and we hooked up the scanner and no pending codes or trouble codes popped up.

What could set off this flashing mil light?

And one other question. Could low oil cause this light to popp up

Steps to reset the Maintenance Required Indicator:

1. Turn off the engine.
2. Press and hold the select and reset buttons on the instrument panel, then turn the ignition switch ON(II).
3. Hold the buttons for about ten seconds, until the indicator resets.

That light is supposed to be RESET at every oil change. Its ONLY purpose is to remind you to change the oil (preset at 7500 mile intervals and no other way of changing it). There is NO other meaning to it.

It is described and tells how to reset in your Owners Manual.

Flashes at about 5k miles since last reset. Solid 2.5k miles later. (guessing)

It is simply a "trip meter".
