Lube the calipers
What's up everyone, go my car inspected yesterday and was told my calipers need to be lubricated, now I know where the calipers are but since it's involving breaks just want to make sure I don't lube anything I'm not supposed to, is it pretty straight forward, remove the rotor, break pads and just spray the caliper with WD-40?
Thanks
Thanks

Drifting
The compound used to dampen squealing is not the same thing. That is placed on the back of the pad, betw. pad & piston.

remove the 2 pop in metal clips on the caliper bracket- clean fully with carb cleaner- this is where the motion happens - no crud allowed!!
pop them back in place and apply synthetic caliper grease to the inner half of its slider area
Clean old grease of back of pads, apply light coat of same caliper grease to area where piston contacts pad or outer caliper fingers touch--you will see the need when removed
apply light amount of grease to the tabs on end of pad--where they fit into those brackets you cleaned and lubed
not so much grease that its going to be flung everywhere when it gets moving or hot!
DO NOT sand the pads!!
clean the old grease off the caliper piston edge- do NOT put any grease there--only on the pad backing plate
we dont need anything between the pad and its shim plate in most cases,,its a nice tight fit already
Who has a tip on lubing the actual slider pins for the caliper??
And make sure not to overtorque any bolts!!- that causes binding
you are probably overdue for brake fluid flush too,,every year or two is smart
ck diys for more help
wd sprayed on brakes = Will Die!!
