loose parking brake
loose parking brake
i have a really loose parking brake its a foot brake and when i push it all the way down the car still rolls i have disk brakes all around and i have no clue on how to tighten my old car had a cable but i didn't see one under the car when i checked
if you take the wheel off there is a rubber plug on the rotor. With that out rotate it to the bottom and with a flash light look into it. You will see what looks like a cowboy boot spur, with a screw driver you can roll it and it will apply more tension.
our park brakes are a set of mini drum brakes located inside the rear rotors hub
There is a cable to each side under the car- that bent down thing you can see from a side distance
to do it fully right -
take apart to clean dust and lube self-adjuster system
then tighten until wheel wont rotate with hand pressure, now back off 6 clicks
Or without removing parts= tighten until slight drag is heard-done!

yeah thanks you guys i tryed it but my time ended up getting cut short but i think il try to get it done this weekend and fully do it right take the whole thing apart. so just so i know im doing it right i tighten the breaks until i cant turn the wheel by hand then back off 6clicks and that should be good to go after that and i do this to both sides correcrt?
thats correct
when its all apart you need to spray clean and lube the adjuster `star wheel` system- same as old drum brakes
the tight and back off 6 clicks/notches should equal a slight drag on part of the rotation
