Light out in my gauge cluster...

Alright so i was out in the car last night and noticed that the light that illuminates the mileage, trip, temp etc. is out. I assume to fix this i will need to take the cluster out and replace the bulb. So my question would be what bulb do i need as well as how do i take the cluster out? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

Your problem is caused by a small circuit board that attaches to the rear of the instrument cluster. I would also replace all of the illumination bulbs (I think they have a blue base), and it couldn't hurt to do all the warning bulbs as well. I think the warning bulbs have a green base, but it might be green for illumination, and blue for warning.

There are three bulbs that power those signals. The likelihood that they all failed simultaneously is low. Must have been a voltage spike or something, so check if any other bulbs are broken.

Well my grandfather said that it hasn't been working for a while when i asked him about it. He said it worked intermittently and then died out. So maybe they all didnt go at once.

My guess would be for the small circuit board in the gauge cluster, rather than a bulb. Here's a
on (what I think is) your problem and how to fix it.

The reason I recommended doing the blue base bulbs is that mine were all dim, and the bulbs were black when I removed them. They are the illumination for the entire rest of the instrument cluster.

Thanks so much for the link man! It looks really quite simple and straight forward and the 50ish$ for the circuit board and lights is worth it to me!
Thanks again!
