Idle issue after timing belt replacement

Once I had my timing belt replaced my 2003 tl, it has an annoying idle issue. The r.p.m.'s go up and down either in park or in gear. The odd issue here is that it only hapens when the radiator fans turn on. I took it back to the mechanic twice and he checked the belt and said that the alignment is fine on the pulleys for the timing belt. I'm not sure if I trust him, but I'll give him the benifit of the doubt. Any recommendations?

Make sure he plugged all sensors back in. I installed my intake and left something unplugged by mistake and it make my car idle for shit. Check everything over an make sure nothing is loose.

Check to see if the MAP and TPS sensors are switched around by accident.

^^check what they said, If everything checks out with that. Then he jumped a tooth on the gear. But its odd that you say it does it when the fans come on...

Does the rpm drop if you have the a/c off then turn it on?

Got Idle Fixed

I actually disconnected all the sensors that I could find, cleaned them off and re-connected them making sure I had a good conection. The idle position sensor (IPS),on the other hand, I have a feeling needed an adjustment. Took a dremel, ground a groove in the rivets and loosened them with a scewdriver. With a little adjustment, the idle works like a champ. Thanks for the help guys!

Idle fixed

Nope. Didn't have to perform the idle relearn procedure.

Idle Position Sensor? There isn't such thing as that in our cars.. The IACV don't work with any positioning system it reacts to Engine RPM like most modern vehicles.

Hey Saaax650, in regards to your question on the Idle Position Sensor ? IDK !!!.........however, there's an IAC valve (Idle Air Control) which may be what ya need to look for underneath the TB. Also the TP Sensor (Throttle Position) is located on front of the TB.

Do some research on the IAC valve in the "DIY" sticky and other previous related threads. It tends to get gunked up and requires a periodic cleaning to help idle issues.
