I think I might have added too much transmission fluid. I didn't check it the right way so I added a little more fluid when I did the transmission flush. I drove around for like 15 mins, then check it and it is over the 'full' mark. So what now, is it bad to have too much fluid in there? How can I take some out? If it is complicated, I will just change it one more time? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How much over teh mark? If its just a tad over i wouldnt worry about it. If its more than that i would drain some out and and if you have to re-add do so as necessary.

Did you check it with the engine OFF and in park after 15 minutes drive?

Hmm....I checked it right after I drove around. It's about 1/4 inch over the 'full' mark. How bad is that?

Never over fill the A/T fluid ..not even a tad ..the min. and max are there for a reason ...
Overfill will affect the way your transmision is working i.e the shifting will be dull , feel the
car is heavier , slower to react ...
I would drain some out .

Old thread but I did a drain and fill for my ATF today. I drained and measured it to be exactly 3 Litres. So when I added the ATF i figured if I put a little less than 3 litres it would be the safest thing to do.
I let the car idle for about 2 mins and then cycled through all the gears and checked the dip stick and it was right below the second dot.
I drove around all day and then checked it again and now it reads about 1/4" above the second dot!
Will I be able to drive like this for about a week or so?

That's kind of odd. We're you on level ground and checked it right after driving with engine off?

I would say the two spots I checked were fairly leveled. One was in a walmart plaza and the other one was in my underground parking. Both read at the same level on the dipstick.
It does sound kinda odd right!? Car seem fine when i was driving. The shifting was pretty smooth so im not sure if I'm ok with leaving it like this or not.

Sounds like you have the reading right then. I only asked because I have noticed even a slight incline can make a difference. These trans are finicky as it is so I would say just to be sure you can easily drain a little out by cracking loose the drain bolt and just unscrew enough to let a few ounces or so out and then drive and recheck.
I recently had the same issue and overfilled about the same amount. So I drained a little out to get it down in between the dots

Mine was actually that way after I had my trans rebuilt and drove it that way for 55K miles. If you're not having any problems then you're probably good to go.

Thanks! I think to be on the safe side I will drain some out, unfortunately it probably wont be till this weekend so hopefully it'll be ok with a little extra in there!

After learning how to properly ck the atf level- go do it
Some years says 15 minute freeway only cruise, with no in-town driving as that makes it read high. Fluid Temp affects reading on dipstick!!
Others say to ck cold
