How to reset TCS & ABS light on the dashboard of 99 TL?

Hi,

I replaced the brake steel tube of the car since they were really bad with more than one spot leaking from rust. But after it's done and completed bleeding, those 2 lights are on. Is that because there would still be some air in the system. I pressed the TCS button below the dashboard but no use.
I drove the car on both local and highway and did not feel anything unusual.
Are those lights to be reset or what?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about air setting a code, maybe if it screws with the pressor sensor readings in the pump module.

To reset ABS codes you will need to jump pins 4 & 9 on the OBD connector with a solid jumper wire or paper clip, referred to in the service manual as "grounding the SCS line". Turning ignition ON with this jumper in place will cause the codes to flash on the dash, if you have trouble resetting everything definitely check the codes to see why it's setting the light.

To reset ABS:

- Ground SCS line
- Press brake pedal and hold it
- Turn ignition ON
- ABS light will go out. Release brake pedal.
- ABS light will come on. Press the brake pedal.
- ABS light will go out. Release the brake pedal.

ABS light should blink and go out. If it blinks twice and stays on, a problem code was detected during the clearing process.

To reset TCS (I haven't done this so this is copied exactly from the service manual):

1) Press the parking brake pedal with the SCS circuit open. Keep the pedal pressed during the entire DTC clearing procedure.
2) Press and hold the TCS switch, then turn the ignition switch ON without starting the engine.
3) Continue to hold the TCS switch for 4 seconds, then turn the ignition switch OFF.
4) Within 6 seconds, turn the ignition switch back ON for at least 4 seconds, then release the TCS switch, and watch the TCS indicator.
5) After a few seconds, the TCS indicator will come on after blinking to indicate that the DTC is cleared. If the indicator blinks repeatedly, repeat steps 1 through 4.

Also, make sure you do some stops that activate ABS from around 45 mph (I go to a gravel parking lot to do this) after changing brake lines, this will bleed air out of the pump. I'm gonna guess that ABS won't function while the lights are on, so you might have to clear the codes then do the stops. Good luck!
