Do i need to take the IMRC off the IM or does the cable unhook?

Two 10mm bolts in the back to remove the IMRC motor. And unhook the cable on the side.

What are you trying to do that you need to remove it?

remove and clean IM/EGR port.

Id prefer to just take it off near the IM for ease.

If i could just unhook the IMRC near the IM, it seems I could just pull it straight up and off.

Oh, then I'd remove the motor in the back also.

not necessary. i was toying around just the other day and had to install my new engine wiring harness and all i did was took out the 10mm bolt holding the cable in, then undid the cable and the IM comes off without needing to move the IMRC. it sits on the rear valve cover

There is small, eraser-shaped piece of metal at the end of the cable that slides out of the butterfly acutator so you can disconnect. It's just like the throttle and cruise control cables on the throttle butterfly.

Oh right. It bolted to the valve cover. I just did my plugs too, and I could've sworn it was bolted to the IM. My mistake.

Manually open the IMRC where the cable attaches to the intake and look and the sprocket, you will see the opening that it slides out of.

I was at work and I went out into the parking lot, there was just some dirt caked around it when I took it off, now it goes on/off as it should be force requried.
