Thanks To All That Post....

i did mine about a year ago this month. getting all the glass out of the lens is the tough part. i used a hair dryer to heat the white factory weather sealant around the glass and then used a jewelers screwdriver (small sharp tip) to get underneath it and pry it up. wear gloves and glasses because you *will* break the glass. get all of it out and clean the remaining factory sealant off the lip where the lens rests. be careful though about letting glass fall inside the housing. the silver reflector part scratches easily.

use a bead of clear silicone around the edge of the plastic lense and set it in place (or put the bead on the housing lip and set the lens that way if you're concerned about smearing. remember to use a small bead because it will spread a little when you push the lense down. try to keep it centered when you put it down. if you don't and the silicone smears a bit try not to worry. mine is a little smeared but it dried clear so it's tough to tell unless you're close up on it.

the lexan lenses are not curved like the factory lenses so i recommend taping them down with duct-tape when you set the silicone sealant. i did this and left it for maybe an hour or two on my kitchen table to dry up. when you take the tape off (carefully so as not to pull the lens back off) the lens will probably relax back to it's nearly original shape. when it does just fill in any gaps it leaves between it and the light housing and let is dry. when you're sure it's all sealed and dry just reinstall it.

and this may sound obvious but i did it because i was lazy, but DON'T USE A CAULKING GUN TO DO THIS JOB. go out and buy a little handheld tube of silicone caulk. my job would have been better if i had done that myself. you do not need high temperature silicone to do this either.

let us know how it goes!

edit: i have photos of when i did this. i will post them when i get home from work for everyone's reference.

both in a way. the glass lenses are quite prone to breaking (by getting hit by rocks and road debris). the lexan lense is nearly unbreakable and makes your foglight look better because you're not driving around with big cracks in your glass lenses anymore.

lexan will yellow over time from the UV exposure, but this is inevitable. the solution is just to replace them every 5 years or whatever. they're cheap enough.

If you have HID's in your fogs the lexan lens will melt and bubble up.

HID's do NOT run any hotter than halogen, in fact, they run cooler. Why do you people not get that through your freakin head. They run cooler, they use less power.
