Horrible rattle from package tray... anyone?

The package tray is the deck behind the rear seats under the rear window.

Over almost any uneven surface, bumps, etc my g/f car rattles something terrbile from back there. I'm curious if anyone else has this and/or has had this fixed and can tell me what it is.

If not, I guess I'll jsut start poking around and look for loose bolts, clips, etc.

TIA.

Subwoofer loose? There really isn't much that is bolted to the package tray. The navi unit is attached underneath if she has navi. Could also be the 3rd brake light cover. The big plastic thing in the center of the tray. It may have come loose. It just clips into the tray.

I have yet to go back there for a look-see. The sub is a good place to start. She has no navi so that shouldn't be an issue.

I think I'm just going to have to remove everything from the trunk, get in there with a light and just go over everything.

It has a metallic sound to it so I think it's a clip or something is loose from the deck.

The more I think of it I'm gonna guess it's the torsion bars that pop the trunk lid. Open the trunk lid and look for the two black 1/2" bars that run along the underside of the package tray. There is a black plastic clip in the center in front of the subwoofer that holds them in place. I bet they either popped out or the clip broke.

That's EXACTLY the sound it makes. Reading that and thinking about an older car I had that did it makes me think you're right.

I've been on this board too long. I've heard my car make just about every rattle possible. Hope it fixes it.

Under the package tray of my car tl-p 02 ..just close to the subwofer
there's a little box in plastic that contain the rear-center seat belt
It rattles too .... but I did not have time to open it yet .........

NSXNET : when the rattle come from the center ventilation outlet
from the dash black trim . Do you experience and know
where it comes from ?
