High gas consumption

Is it me or just the way of the car. But my 03 TL type S seems to consume the hell out of gas like no tomorrow. There is no gas leaks or any mechanical problems of that nature. It feels like it only gets like 12 mpg. Now thats BULL S#!T.Does anyone have the same problem and if so did you do anything to fix it? Any suggestions will help.

I haven't actually done the math. I'm probably exaggerating a little but i do know there is a significant difference in the fuel consumption then from when i first got the car.

I've been thinking the same thing....I only use Chevron 93 octane, seafoam when necessary, and keep up with maintenance. Still though, my mileage as of late has been horrendous.

Until you calculate the mileage (driving as you typically do, where you typically do), it's just a guess-

Have you checked the usual things, such as tuneup (mentioned), tire pressure/condition, air filter, etc.?

I have the same problem so I changed plugs, air filter, ran a bottle of injector cleaner, nothing helped so I started driving super slow everywhere I go, it's time to trade my 03 in for something new

My 2002 TL-S still gets like between 23-24 mpg and I have 163K miles on the car. The dealer did adjust my engine valves one time and he said that would increase my mileage a bit.

Well guys, I cleaned my EGR port, entire IM, TB, etc...Ran a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, lubed up the throttle cables, etc on Wednesday night. It took a few hours to get everything done, I don't know if we were just working slow because it was the first time, or we just were very attentive to all the details.
Anyways, I drove a bunch since then, and my mileage seemed to improve a lot....But, when I fill up next, I will keep you posted with my lileage.

i use mymilemarker.com to track my mileage...

usually about 15-18 if doing mostly stop and go
took it on the highway regularly for a week (~17 miles hwy and ~5 miles stop and go each way) and got about 28-29...but there was a brief period of extended WOT in there
