Hids

Bought new bulbs from hidextra and installed them today. One bulb wasn't lighting up and thought it was the bulb. So I switched the sides and found out it was the bulb. So I put my old ones back in and I still have the same problem. I'm thinking it might be my ballast but it was working perfectly fine before I installed the new bulbs. My left side ballast is working fine it's the right side I'm having problems with. It'll turn on and the bulb will light but will shut off after 5 seconds. Any solutions to my problem?

So I've switched the relays and checked the fuses and still having problems. I'm not thinking it is the ballast. Should I get an oem ballast or aftermarket from hidextra?

So I found out the problem. My ballast had water damaged even though there wasn't any moisture in the housing. I took off the power connector to the ballast and found moisture in it. Took off the headlight and the ballast. Opened it up and slot of moisture was in side. I cleaned it up an let it dry. Resealed them and it's working now. Hopefully it holds up.

you were able to take the ballast itself apart?

if its been water soaked, its safer to get aftermarket replacement and not have to worry about fires~
wires and connections get crudded and resistance goes up..not good

on some parts I will agree with you- stay OE,,the TL water pump seems a good unit

On many others- I feel the car maker is looking to buy cheap in bulk ie: the cabin blower power connector..oil filters,,,

for what acura wants for the ballast and other parts, compared to the quality of aftermarket suppliers--now that the weaker companies have folded and the good ones remain (see our vendor sponsors for a few ideas)

for my 01 with the alternating off headlight prob,,its going aftermarket full kit
80 bucks is awesome!! (paid more for my kaixen bulbs)
I use the lights mostly in day for safety and rarely drive at night,,but anything has to beat suddenly driving with 1 light and not realizing it doh~~
