Yeah, the bulbs do wear out !
When you proceed to remove the old bulb, check the wiring connector to make sure that it was previously secure. Also inspect for any signs of moisture or corrosion, as either could cause problems.
Check the DIY sticky and other previously posted threads on the HID lamps for more info. The passenger side is relatively easy to access with a T-20 security. Use a latex glove if touching the glass part of the bulb. Take time to observe the bulb's retaining clip position, it can be tricky.

You're gonna need to replace both headlight bulbs. The old one will look dimmer and a different shade of color, usually pinkish.....plus the old one is due to die soon. It will look better if you match both bulbs now.

the TL uses a D2 bulb,,the last letter designates which base of the bulb
those are special HID bulbs that operate with a 20,000 volt system!
normal lights are 12 volts
ck website and call www.hidextra.com they will get the right parts in your hand
59 bucks for complete new system of ballast and bulbs
suggest 5000k color bulb and the normal 35watt ballast they sell
look for coupons or ask for the special acurazine pricing = save 5 bucks!
dont need the extra-extra small ballast or the optional wiring,,
we are simply replacing old parts of current hid system,
cut into the existing power wire and connect new wires to original = simple
for the effort to replace the bulbs.. only to have ballast be your other prob,,do it once and its good! remove nose of car to do
if you see moisture inside headliight lens- you need new ballast.
water drips out a drain hole and onto ballast
When you see the technology differances made since car was built and how much brighter new bulbs are (they lose lumens with age/2000 hours use)
you will say `thats the best 60 bucks I have spent on the car!

I just had the same problem and bought a pair of phillips replacement bulbs from amazon. The ballast for the HID in my 02-tls is sealed well and there was no moisture issue.
Had been riding on the original bulbs, huge difference in visibility.

You sure it's the bulb? Because if it was the bulb it wouldn't even come on... My Acura does the same thing it flickers a bit then shuts off and it was just a bad ballast.. Up to you doe, good luck!
