Unhappy HID headlight problem

I have a 2002 TL type s with one headlight that comes on for a split second and then stays off. Is there a way to determine which component is bad? I understand there are a number of modules/boards associated with each headlight. Could I just swap parts from the other side without worrying about damaging good parts to find out the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

did you change the bulb or think back som one change ur bulb ? , cuz man , i had a same problem lik urs. My uncle swaped his bulb(Lexus) and put this bulb into my TL 03 , it stays on for like 5 seconds or some and then turns off by itself. Check the bulbs again and make sure they are clear and no dust at the bottom. Hope it help !

As a matter of fact, I just bought the car that the previous owner said he changed that bulb. Maybe the wrong one. I will swap bulbs before going any further. thanks.

If it has the correct new bulb- and they should always be replaced in pairs- and it went out after a week- its most likely water in the ballest burned that out
very common prob

You can swap all the parts without concern

Try swap the bulb to the other side.
Always use latex glove when you handle bulbs

it could be your bulb , wiring harnes from bulb to inverter, or inverter. if you have the time and tools , try removing the bulb from the good side first, if it doesnt work try the wire harnes from bulb to inverter is not that long , for last , ill try swap'n the inverter. make sure that the fuse under hood fuse box is good. showuld be head light low left or right. only fuse , bulb, wire , or inverter the cause of this problem.
