HID fog lights

i recently had one of my HID fog lights go out, so i ordered a new ballast and 2 new lamps, from the same company as i did before. i install everything with the right polarities and my bad fog light still doesnt come on, i checked voltage and got around 12-13 volts, i even tried the other lamp i had and nothing. i also check the 20A fuse under the hood and it was good since i was still getting voltage figured id check anyways. Anything you guys can come up with would be awesome

2003 TL

thanks in advance, Nick

Sounds to me like a bad ground, test the negative side for voltage.

Did you tried the ballast directly to the battery? I always start with the ballasts...

If you are seeing power into the fog wiring then there is no reason why it should not fire up, Have you tried installing an Halogen Bulb to see if it can hold the load?

yeah Ill take a look at the grounding, not sure why I didn't!
I've had the HID fog and headlights for about a year with no problems so I dont see why it wouldn't be able to hold the load! I'll do some more research when I get home and let you guys know! Thanks!!

are you using a relay kit?

stock wiring is not designed to power anything other than what it was designed for.
when you add HID fogs, you're putting additional work through the stock wiring.

check the ground. if not ground, its stock wiring and you will need a relay kit

well I checked ground and no issues, continuity throughout.
as for the relay I've had my HID fogs in for about a year, maybe more and no problems why would it act up now? I was sent the same ballast type as before.

thanks again for the help

So i found out that the fog lights connector contacts did not have a nice snug fit to the HID fog light connector. so i had to but splice the factory fog light power wires to the HID fog light wires going to the ballast. All in all my fog lights now work!
