Help, will not start, 3.2
Help, will not start, 3.2
1999 tl 3.2 while driving the power steering belt broke and the car died. Replaced belt. It has fire and fuel. Even sprayed gas directly into it. Not a cough spit or sputter. All plugs have fire. Timing belt is fine. I thought all ya need is fire and fuel. This has me whipped. Any help would be a life saver. Thanks guys
you verified each plug has spark by removing ?
tried carb cleaner or deep creep (seafoam aerosol also an excellent starting fluid!) sprayed thru TB throat?
You ck'd tbelt is present and rotating via the inspection viewports?
99s do you have 6 coils mounted on spark plugs, or older cap and wire method of ignition?
the fire triangle is Fuel AIR and source of Ignition, so how is the air situation?
note careful on ps belt tension- runs looser than normal car! tight will burn the pump out fast- so ck that against spec
if you need the factory owner book for help or specs, free download Acura Owners Site | Exclusive Knowledge, Service, & Benefits
easy way to reset ecu and clear codes is remove the CLOCK fuse on passenger end of dash for 1 minute and reinsert-
secret backup power to ecu SHHHHH don't tell anyone
hows the ignition switch back? - the electrical part has bad wear out issues
our diy section may be more help- its the 4th item down main list- Official 2nd gen DIY blahbah it only shows 2 threads but each contains a hundred + diy links written by members !

Check the wiring that leads to the crank position sensor. Its comes out by the oil filter. Also check the wiring to the TDC sensors, Its wiring comes out by the PS pump. If those got broke when the belt broke the car wouldnt run.
Also, when you stick the key in the ignition and are trying to start the car, do you see a green key light flashing or anything?

Pulled every plug and have fire.
Sprayed starting fluid.
When cam is at 1. Shouldn't other cam and crank be on mark also? It's not.
When turn key off green light flashes.
Does have 6 coils.
thought ps belt when broke may have tangled behind timing cover and made timing belt slip.

the bad news is if the timing belt slipped- every time the engine turns over secures its fate- due to any open exhaust valve to rising piston contact bends the valve stem and edge- tears things up bad with the continued beating
the good news- you will have found the problem !
seriously though ck the OFFICIAL gen2 diy link- 4th item down main list- its 2 threads have all the links,
the tbelt service thread had lots of pics and instructions on cam markings and what valves should be in what position when
Hopefully its just the wiring to a sensor got pulled out by the flapping belt- that's more likely, so lets go with that one!!

Yeah, as Fsttyms1 previously suggested checking anything within the area of the broken PS belt.
