HELP!! Suspension/Engine Mount Rattle

Hey guys, major problem here. I took my car to my local mechanic (whom I trust...maybed trusted) last week to have the timing belt and water pump changed. They found that one of my engine mounts was blown and had to replace it, they did and I got my car back. That day I noticed a rattling coming from the rear passenger side of the car but was headed to Atlantic City so I didn't have time to check it out completely. The next day coming home the noise mysteriously shifted to the front passenger side. The rattle only happens when I hit a speed bump or larger bump. Now, the sound is much louder and happens even when I just start the car. I think maybe the engine mount wasn't installed correctly or maybe the torque the engine creates when starting is jarring the suspension in some way. I took it back to my mechanic and they said that the noise is my strut going, but it doesn't make sense because the car didnt make this noise when I dropped it off. So anyway I'm stuck with an extremely annoying rattle in the front passenger side whenever I start the car or hit a large bump. My next course of action is to take it to another mechanic, have it diagnosed, and then if it is something at the fault of my mechanic, take it back to them and "force" them to fix it. Sorry if this isn't extremely clear, I am just trying to include all symptoms. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced something like this or has any suggestions.

One last thing, when I got my car back, I was washing it and noticed that the inner fender liner on the front passenger side was outside of the bumper, so they must have been in there doing something. Don't know if that helps.

is this inside the passenger side of the front wheel well just inside the fender? y not ask the mechanic what he needed to do to replace the engine mount and the timing belt/waterpump.. maybe just missed a couple bolts .. no harm in finding out..

Just sounds like something didn't get tighten down. To change the timing belt and water pump. You have to remove the inner fender splash gaurd and wheel to access the front of the engine. hope this helps.

Thanks guys. Took it to the dealer today and they found out that it wasn't the suspension at all, it was another busted engine mount (the one on the side, apparently I had the front one replaced). I am calling my warranty company on Monday and am going to try and get them to cover the costs. Hopefully this will be the last I hear of the noise. Mods you can close this thread.

when you replace timing belt, you should replace all engine mounts. That what I did. It's suprise me too, that after 100k miles we should replace a lot parts. One word Acura-Honda good for 100k. Right now 110k and I have to replace starter and rear view mirror . What's next?

Good luck

Cool Rattles and clunks

I am having a "mount" issue right now with my 99 TL. About a year ago I had a local Firestone shop replace all 6 mounts ( 4 motor and 2 trany). Car ran like a brandy new. I was real happy. Now I am having a clunking problem again and a diagnosis at the local "ACURA" dealer revealed a leaking front mount " the big can that takes most of the stress" and possible some other mount issues probably due to that main one going. It is leaking fluid. I hate pumping all this money into a 11 year old car but the alternitive would be stepping way down to a newer car wich may or may not be as reliable and NICE as my TL! That being said, when I drop a grand or so on a repair which is probably warrented at 120k miles,, I expect the fix to last more than a year or two. I do not beat on this car at all. BTW.. Also getting ready to do susspention work on it.. i.e. struts, bushings, etc. Any tips or suggestions?

Thanks to everyone in advance.....
