HELP! Loud rattling/clunking at high speeds

Hi guys, I have a '99 TL that has been making a funky noise for the past few weeks. The car drives just fine but after driving for approx. 15 minutes I begin to feel a vibration in the gas pedal and a loud rattling or clunking noise under the hood. It only goes away when I slow down or let off the gas. This happens when I get up to high speeds (70-80) and then it usually goes away after a little while. Well today it started it again but even when I slowed down to 60 it felt like I was about to lose the damn front axle. I had to turn the hazard lights on and pray I'd make it off the freeway. It was so loud and it felt like the whole front end was shaking. The engine light isn't on and the catalytic converter was just replaced a couple months ago (2nd one) so that's not it. Of course, I'm on my 2nd tranny but I think that's fine. Also, the tires are good and are in alignment. This noise does not happen while going over speed bumps or anything like that. I only notice it after I've been driving on the freeway for about 15 minutes. Does anyone have ANY suggestions? I tried to be as descriptive as possible but please feel free to ask questions. I'm so over putting money in this car but it beats a car note any day. I really do love my TL. It's a great car. Thanks for the help!
