help with headlights
ok so last summer, i noticed my driver side headlight was out. Then I saw some minor condensation on the headlight cover. Now i have been driving with only one headlight on for the past 8 months. I am finally planning on getting it fixed this week.
What parts do you think I need? I tried a new bulb in it, and it didn't work. Don't know if I need a new ballast or inverter or what.. Any help would be appreciated. I searched all the threads here, but could not find a straight answer.
I will probably go to my mechanic, and have him get some parts from a salvage yard. We found a 2002 TL that was totaled from the rear, with all other parts good. So I am planning on getting the entire headlight unit off of that one and use the parts in it.

I have a similar problem. I bought the car used and the headlight is resealed up. Right now it is pouring outside and the driver side wont turn on at all. When it's not raining, it turns out after the third try.
To pinpoint the problem, you can test the bulb, ballast, and ignitor on the other headlight. When my headlight went out due to extreme condensation, the ballast was the culprit. You should be able to find a new ballast for 150 on ebay or 180 for the ballast+ignitor. There is a thread in the DIY thread on the main TL page that will tell you how to do it.
the only thing is that I noticed the condensation last summer after the headlight had already blown out. The HighBeam and Sidemarker bulbs work fine. And the condensation wasn't that bad, just on the lens. If extreme condensation killed the ballast, then for me its probably just the igniter. I just want to try and pinpoint the problem. I am taking the car to my mechanic right now, and he is gonna try and take apart the light to find which parts might be shot. We will use the parts off the Salvage Yard TL we found and try to fix it. So I'll get back to you guys after I try that.
Thanks for the help..
