Help!! Car Shuts Off at Highway Speeds!!

Okay, this has happened 2 or three times to me since I got the car in January, here are the details:

1) Car is a 1999 TL-P. 120k at the moment, 107k when I got it in Jan.

2) It's has a salvage title, and I found out later that this was due to "water damage." Not sure I'd have purchased it if I knew. I was originally told the title was due to a rear-end collision.

3) The car recently "shut down" on me, as in all power dies out, I have to put it in Neutral, and restart. This is while I am drivng in 4th gear, on the hi-way at like 70 mph. RPM was about 3k or so.

4) I have a UR Crank pulley on it. But it shut down on me on the hi-way once before I swapped out the stock crank pulley.

5) I have a new battery. Had alternator checked and they said it was fine.

6) I was not using a lot of power or anything, stock stereo and speakers.

7) Car has no other "electrical" issues. Or any issues at all.

This is a great car. I spent a bunch of time modding it. But this is really unsafe, once it did not restart in neutral, I had to slowly move through traffic with the car losing speed, to the side of the road. I then waited a minute, after shutting everything down, and the car started like nothing had happened. This was not good, very dangerous with cars zooming down on me....

Please advise me ziners!!

Another vote for the ignition switch...

It could be something else but ignition switch problems are fairly common. My 1999 TL is on its third ignition switch.

Check with Acura to see if the ignition switch was ever replaced under the recall. If not, Acura should install a new one for free. I'm not sure, but I think that recalls even cover salvage titles.

If Acura won't cover it you can replace it yourself for about $50.

Here's an excellent "how to" thread with photos:
