Exclamation Help!!!

On (2/1/14) i installed a new radio to my 2000 Acura TL. everything was going fine all the wires were correctly installed using the wiring diagram. i double checked triple checked and the radio worked without an issue. i taped up all the wires i wasn't using anymore and went about my life... a few days later i noticed my cluster lights no longer were working and paid no made it them until i noticed my back tail lights also were out. i checked the small light fuse and it was blown. i then replaced it 3x times and it kept blowing until i put a bigger fuse in... later that night my check engine started blinkng, TCS and ABS lights came on so i disconnected the HU until i could inspect the problem. upon opening the radio casing back up i noticed the illumination wire had burnt out and am now at a lost of words... HELP me please..

I called Acura and they told me to have a open wallet because they need to go through the whole car....

thats a no no

note posted this question in the Radio section.. it would be nice to know if im on the right part of the forum now

ouch! sounds like you shorted something out!!

I really hope you get it fixed soon, as no lights could be dangerous to you and others.

Putting higher amperage fuse is a huge mistake and dangerous in a situation like this, you wouldn't want an electrical fire while driving would you.
You need to find the short to ground thats on that circuit, Disconnect it and recheck the wiring, more than likely the illumination wire was not installed correctly or defective radio.

Check all fuses there maybe other blown fuses as a cause of this.

I'ved checked all fuses and they are all fine. I rechecked all wires and they are all fine. now am i to trace the whole harass out. im 100% sure nothing is touching metal an all the wires are taped and tied to reduce a chance of touching anything.... i guess i should just take it to a mechanic and call it a day....

A similar thing happened when a buddy of mine put in his head unit just to have his gauge cluster fail. He bought a gauge cluster against my recommendation and ended up spending money on a gauge cluster that he didn`t need.

The problem if it wasn`t there before you installed the stereo is with the install or the the unit itself.

Update. So I take my car to a mechanic to have the thing fixed instead of trying to fix it myself and they end up missing my car up more. They ripped out my radio wires (had to run them all over again) somehow they fucked up my alarm gotta take the cr back to my alarm guy now. They pulled out the thing attached to the brake to make the brake light go off and on this causing my car not to want to shift into gear. Cut some wire next to it. And there telling me after having my car all day the problem is in the main harness and they'll need to rip out the dash to get to it. So y wasn't that done in the beginning. Now my check engine and D5 lights are having a party in the cluster flashing on and off. I'm assuming it's the temp gauge and not the tranny simply cuz I don't feel any slipping in the tranny or any jerking or any funny business. So what should I do next??

The job wasn't completed in a satisfactory manner, so the mechanic should be liable for doing the work over to make things right or give your money back for the repairs.

What you should do is take it to a more competent mechanic and have the necessary repairs performed, then hand the bill over to the previous shop for reimbursement.

You need an automotive electrician with the proper wiring diagrams and equipment.
For the CEL have it scanned and write the codes down.
Another member post back with the no dash light fix and ended up being the driver side Multiplex unit which was fried, replaced it and it all worked.

Ok I'm starting to think my car needs a lesson from gas and fire. For two days the check engine and D5 light have been blinking. I know it's not the tranny and had to be the trams temp gauge. After getting it checked at my local parts store a few reading came up p1607 which I believe was the ECM sensor. Considering all is lost I drive home before reaching I stop for gas. And then all is good D5 and check engine stopped blinking. So I'm wondering if my original problem could be fucking wit me. Cuz it's doing a good job.

I had a very similar problem when I first purchased my car. I moved my seat backwards while driving and I lost all lights. The dash cluster went out, nothing was working electrically. It was shifting poorly and I was scared I broke something. It turns out that when I was moving my seat backwards, the harness under the seat had gotten stuck between the seat and the metal cover that is supposed to protect the harness. The seat cut a wire and all hell broke loose. I stripped and reconnected the wire, taped it up and shoved it back under the metal cover. After that it worked perfectly after replacing a few fuses that blew.

This may not be your issue, but worth looking into. Your "intermittent" problems could be due to the shorting of the wire on the metal cover from time to time.

The service manual is your best friend on that.
Do you have it?
