Heavy rain + huge puddles = car running terribly
Hello A-Zine. I have a 2000 TL and the car had been running fine. It needs an oil change, but other than that in the 3 plus years I have had it. I left the barbershop last night in pouring rain. Like end of the world type rain. In hindsight I could have let it pass before leaving, but I figured it wouldn't be a big deal. I got on the highway and was doing 40 or so and the rain was pouring. I think i went through some water on the road, no a huge puddle but enough so I noticed, and the check engine light came on and the enging started running very rough. The best way I could describe it would be like one of the cylinders wasn't firing. I thought about it today as I was driving to the train, and it MIGHT not be running that rough (as w/o a cylinder) but its running terribly. Once the rain stopped I was able to go 60 with no issues just rough running. Any ideas as to what it could be? Any risk of damaging it between now and next week when I can get it to the shop? Thanks for your help.

Ignition system fault. Thats a new one to me. If it controls the coils I would check more into that first.
Random misfires usually happen when one or more coils go out.
